Mount Mourne Fire Department provides fire, rescue, and medical first responder service to an 18 square mile unincorporated area of southern Iredell County and serves approximately 8800 residents.
Mount Mourne Fire Department is an Insurance Service Office (ISO) Class 4 fire department and is a certified medium rescue squad and medical responder provider by the North Carolina Office of Rescue and EMS. Our district consists mostly of residential properties, with a moderate number of commercial properties. Mount Mourne Fire Department provides coverage to approximately 5 miles of Interstate 77 and 31.5 shoreline miles of Lake Norman.
We currently operate out of one station with an apparatus fleet of 2 Engine Companies, 1 Tower Ladder, 1 Tanker, 1 Brush Truck, and 1 Squad Truck. Our current roster consists of 40 members. Our members are required to maintain numerous state certifications and training.
Our station is staffed with part time personnel 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We respond automatic and mutual aid with South Iredell Fire Department, Lake Norman Fire and Rescue, Shepherd’s Fire and Rescue, Davidson Fire Department, and Mooresville Fire and Rescue.
Mount Mourne Fire Department provides fire prevention and public education to all residents and facilities in our district. Our department has also made several notable improvements to buildings, equipment and apparatus, allowing us to better serve the community.
